For those of us who live in California, you know that it's been a very difficult month for the California Highway Patrol. The department has lost five officers in the period of 4 weeks. Two of them being dear, close friends of ours... Officer Phil Ortiz and Officer Tom Coleman.
While attending the funeral services of Tom, I realized we had a lesson forced upon us. A lesson that taught us that life is too precious to take for granted. We need to love and cherrish every moment between us and all of the people near and dear to our hearts. Three people near and dear to mine are Tom's wife and two children. Her strength through this time of tragedy is a constant light that brightens my day.
God bless every law enforcement officer that puts their lives on the line to defend and protect us.
I'm typing this with tears in my eyes! His uniform hanging there like that... I can't even stand it. My heart breaks for their wives & children, and definitely is a reminder of just how precious life is.
